Martial Arts
At HealthQuest, our mission is to strive towards the total development of the individual into a well rounded and responsible person. The curriculum will help the student learn to balance physical challenges, mental stress, and emotional conflict. We do this through teaching and reinforcing the principles of respect, courtesy, integrity, perseverance, self-control, patience, and humility.
A positive character, confident personality, and high moral standards will be developed through the martial arts training. We encourage our students to incorporate these values into their everyday lives.
HealthQuest Martial Arts has chosen a unique and refreshing approach to Martial Arts instruction. The core of our style is Tae Kwon Do, but includes material from a variety of martial arts. The student will develop core strength, endurance, balance, and flexibility while improving self confidence and self control.
Martial Arts Levels
Registration is on going year round. You must attend 2 classes per week.

This class builds on the skills learned in the white and yellow belt class. In this class sparring with protective gear is introduced for the first time. Students will be expected to learn more advanced forms and techniques such as punch and kick combinations and self-defense during sparring. At the Brown Belt and above level board breaking will be included in the training, as well as introduction to weapons such as Nunchaku, Escrima stick and Bo staff.
Martial Arts Attire
Attire and Rank Advancement
Students must wear only approved uniforms that are clean and in good repair. Females only may wear tee shirts under their uniforms. Students must have trimmed nails and long hair must be neatly secured. No jewelry of any kind. Bare feet only are permitted in the practice area.
Required Equipment / Uniform
All students are required to wear a white karate uniform. Uniforms can be purchased at HealthQuest for $35 + tax. Students who spar (green belt and above) are required to use HealthQuest approved sparring equipment. This consists of headgear, mouthpiece, hand-gear, footgear; chest gear is optional (but recommended for children), and groin protector for boys and men. All uniforms and equipment is to be purchased through the Program Desk.
Rank Advancement
At HealthQuest, progress is measured by the award of color belts in accordance with the knowledge, skill, time and effort the student has dedicated to the program. Additionally, to mark progress between scheduled belt testing, the student will be awarded belt stripes as each new skill is mastered.
Belts are awarded quarterly, during testing events. There will be a $40 fee for any student that is testing. To achieve a higher rank belt, the student must attend the minimum number of classes, learn factual Martial Arts knowledge relative to their age and belt level, and demonstrate appropriate self-defense moves and form.
